Celebrate National Foster Care Month: Become a Foster Parent

Every May, we come together for National Foster Care Month to celebrate the impact foster parents have on the lives of those in foster care and to highlight the ongoing need for more foster families. At RISE Services, Inc. Arizona, we’re proud to play an essential role in this mission. We license families who open their hearts and homes to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In this post, you’ll learn how RISE Services, Inc. Arizona is helping meet the need for compassionate foster homes—and how you can make a difference, too.

RISE Services Inc Arizona National Foster Care Month

What Is National Foster Care Month?

This month, we honor the commitment of foster families and amplify the voices of children and adults in foster care. In Arizona alone, thousands of children are in need of nurturing homes where they can feel safe and supported.

These individuals often face significant challenges, including a lack of stability, which makes a loving home environment more critical than ever. The goal of National Foster Care Month is to encourage more people to consider foster parenting and provide these children and adults with the structure and care they urgently need.

Real Support for Foster Parents

At RISE Services, Inc. Arizona, we’re on a mission to provide opportunities for and with people. That’s why we’re committed to supporting families throughout the foster care journey. We offer various licensing options tailored to meet different needs, including:

  1. Family Foster Home License: This is for a specific number of children, with the age and gender preferences of your choice.
  2. Kinship (Relative) License: A license for relatives caring for a child placed in their home by the Department of Child Safety (DCS).
  3. Child Developmental Home License: This is for individuals or families who want to provide care for children with developmental disabilities in a home setting.
  4. Adult Developmental Home License: This license is for those who are licensed to care for adults with developmental disabilities in their home.
  5. Respite License: It gives you a license to provide temporary care for foster children, offering foster families a much-needed break.

Our Family Support Specialists are your partners, providing guidance and emergency support. They conduct monthly home visits and advocate for services your foster child may need, so you’re equipped with resources and support.

At RISE Services, Inc. Arizona, we proudly license single- and two-parent households. We encourage diversity and remove unnecessary barriers to creating loving homes.

Our foster and adoption offices are in Mesa, Surprise, and Tucson. If you live in these areas and decide to foster with us, you’ll join a community committed to providing safe, nurturing environments for every child and adult under our care.
