Make Christmas Special for Foster Children This Holiday Season
Each year, RISE Services, Inc. Arizona provides Christmas gifts for foster children to help ease the financial burden on our foster families. Our Care Closet is also a valuable resource for foster families when they need practical items like diapers, clothing, and school supplies. During the holidays, both of these programs need several donations in order to successfully assist Arizona foster families. If you want to help out with these important programs, keep reading to learn how you can be a part of making a child’s Christmas special this holiday season.
How You Can Help
One of the best ways you can help is to donate items for both the Care Closet and the Foster Family Christmas Gifts program. To make it even more meaningful, we suggest you find other ways to get involved, too:
- Collect gifts and essential items at your workplace or church.
- Shop together as a family and allow your children to pick out gifts for foster children.
- Spend an evening with friends choosing and ordering Christmas gifts online.
- Sponsor a specific foster family for Christmas with your church’s small group.
- Volunteer to wrap gifts with colleagues as a team-building activity.
Donations for the Care Closet
When foster families need assistance caring for the children in their homes, we invite them to visit our Care Closet. This practical yet valuable resource provides families with much-needed hygiene and personal items. We appreciate any and all donations that can help restock the Care Closet:
- Diapers, wipes, and formula
- Clothing and hygiene items
- Toys and books
- Backpacks and school supplies
Recommended Christmas Gift Items
We gladly accept both gift and monetary donations for children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities who are placed in foster homes. We do request new items as we would like to give children brand-new gifts to open on Christmas morning. Gifts are appreciated for newborns through 15 +, and can include a wide variety of items:
- Gift cards for teens and adults
- Craft kits
- Toys and puzzles
- Board games
- Stuffed animals
- Pajamas and slippers
- Hats, scarves, and mittens
Wrapping Christmas Presents
Our team will begin delivering gifts to foster homes the first week of December so we ask that donations be delivered to our office by November 30. Please drop off all gifts unwrapped. We greatly appreciate scotch tape and gift wrap donations, too. If you and your group would like to help with wrapping and packaging the presents, give us a call to find out how you can get involved.
